Question #4:

Has anyone ever fished a drop-shot in MUDDY water?

I've been going to a local pond which is "mostly stained" to say the least. Yesterday I went to it for the first time this year, actually it was my first time fishing of this year. And I got skunked. I tried quite a few different things, spinnerbaits, plastic worms, frogs (lol), and even grubs. Nothing. So I've been thinking about what I've been doing wrong...

There's a very small drop-off that I can hit about 1/2 the time, it's where I've caught my only bass out of the pond at.

I was thinking, to work that little spot good, I could try a drop-shot rig. But, I've never heard of ANYONE trying a drop-shot in such muddy water...

I was thinking a 6" black w/ pink tail worm would get them, I came unprepared yesterday and wished I had some black n pink worms along with rat-l-traps...

You think it'll work?

Question #9:

OKAY, it's show time!?

I think I am going to end my deadly streak of not-fishing since the last day of November, which has been about 3-months. Bass is what I'm going to do. And maybe even crappie.

Anyone been fishing lately? Catching anything?
Yep, not fishing since November is KILLING ME!

But, plans changed. It looks as though I will just be soaking bait for either carp or maybe bluegill or both.

I'm leaving here in an hour and a half...

Which lure is best for spring Bass fishing?

Okay, I need to figure out which lure is best for fishing in the spring or summer. I am aiming for catching largemouth bass, and I am a beginner at fishing. I have some other bait, Senko plastic worms. I would also like to know what kind of setup would be required for said lure, and how to set it up. I need to know brand and color, as well as lure type (I would prefer one that dives)

Question #16:

PowerPro Braided line for Catfishing.....?

This past season I made the switch from mono line to braided lines. I used Spiderwire camo braid in a 50lb line. From that point on I was hooked on braided line for cat-fishing. I quickly made the step up to using 50lb PowerPro moss green line. This year I purchased two new Ugly Stik Catfish spinning combos from Bass Pro Shops and I am looking for suggestions for line to put on them. I am leaning toward putting 65lb PowerPro on them, but I have been reading a lot about using red line instead of green because it disappears better under the water. I am a little wary about making the switch from green to red, but don't want to miss out on catching more fish. Hopefully someone who is a die hard cat-fisherman sees this and can give me their input. I am also wondering whether or not going up from 50lb to 65lb is going to make it that much harder to cast. Thanks.

Question #17:

If the Netherlands and Hong Kong are doing well, is the world really overpopulated?

Some of the greatest places on Earth are the most populated. Hong Kong and the Netherlands. People take vacations there. Some of the worst places on Earth the most populated, like Rowanda.

People consume, yes, but we also produce. We produce superior technology to dig into the planet for more resources. We have only pulled out the low-hanging fruit. There are many many miles you can drill into this Earth for more resources. The Potomac river was so polluted, you could get sick just getting it on you. Now there innertube races. Swimming is permitted.

There is pollution, but far less pollution than in the 60s, when companies were allowed to dump practically anything in the water.

There is overfishing, but most species populate quickly and will bounce back. This happened to the bass and redfish in Texas, there was a ban, now fish have exploded.

Comments?
Steven C. - Really? Mexico has a lot of land. All their population is in one area because of bad management. They have 3 growing seasons to our 1. Their land is more fertile as it has not been as heavily used. There is no reason they can't be living better than the U.S. except for the government.
oikos - I read Limits to Growth in 1983 which said we were exponentially reaching our limits on all resources. It said in the year 2000, we could all just pack it in, as all the limits would be reached. That was 25 years ago. Now the same scare has come again.

In 25 years or 2035, I'll bet you think the world will run out of resources, right?

Question #18:

I was fishing a small trout pond on Sunday?

Using a mepps 1/4 ounce trout pattern inline. I was tossing it under a bridge around reeds and whatnot. I assume that I hit a bass nest, cause I hooked a 7 pounder, 19 inches. She didn't fight at all. She had a belly on her too, I assume she was prego. So, I carried her back, measured her then contemplated on whether or not I should keep her. I ended up tossing her back in.

Typically I wouldn't keep a bass, but this one was out of some really clean water and it was a very healthy looking fish. Would you have kept it? Would you have eaten in? Have you eaten large mouth before? How is it?

I see them as a game fish and I always throw them back, but then again, when I catch them, they are caught in a pretty nasty river from which I would not eat anything.

Thoughts?

Question #19:

How much is my knife worth?

Question #20:

Trolling motor battery?

I just bought a Minn Kota 36 # thrust Trolling Motor and I plan on using it on my small bass fishing boat. I want to use it as the primary motor, meaning I wont have a gas motor. My boat is only 9' so I didnt bother getting a large motor. So now I am wondering what kind of battery should I get? I would like it to last from sun up to sun down. I have a really nice battery charger made for deep cell batteries already.
